Coping with Emergencies
Hannah Cohen is a substitute teacher and a single mother. Hannah and her two children had to leave their home after an exterminator accidentally poisoned the air and all the soft goods (their clothing, upholstery, bedding, drapes and carpets). Outside their temporary home, Hannah slipped and fell on a patch of ice, breaking her pelvis. Unable to work, Hannah needed help to pay both her mortgage and her rent. Hebrew Free Loan stepped in.
Getting Started in America
Irina Karpov was born in Russia and now lives in Northeast Philadelphia. She works at a Russian-language newspaper and supplements her income teaching Hebrew part-time. She needed to buy a used car to get from one job to the other. Hebrew Free Loan made it possible.
